How to calculate
The green water footprint in crop growing is equal to the crop water requirement if there is sufficient soil moisture from precipation available. If the effective precipation is lower than the crop water requirement, the evapotranspiration and thus the green water footprint will be equal to the effective precipitation.
How to calculate
There is a blue water footprint in crop growing only if there is irrigation. The blue water footprint is equal to the irrigation requirement if the full irrigation requirement is met by actual irrigation. The irrigation requirement is equal to the crop water requirement minus the effective rainfall. If the irrigation volume is less than the irrigation requirement, the blue water footprint is equal to the effective irrigation.
